DEFINED BY EXCELLENCE AND CURIOSITY

Martha Sprague began studying cello at the age of 8 in Beijing, China. Her music education later moved to Seattle, then to the Cleveland institute of Music where she graduated from the studio of Sharon Robinson. She studied with Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School until his passing, and now receives mentorship from Natasha Brofsky. Through Juilliard, Martha holds a Morse Fellowship for Community Engagement and a Gluck Community Service Fellowship. She has twice held the Associate Principal position in the New York String Orchestra, playing to sold out audiences in Carnegie Hall. She has also received prizes from the Cleveland Cello Society and the Northwest Sinfonietta and has spent summers as a member of the National Repertory Orchestra and at the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
